What to Expect

Most posts will fall into one of the following categories.

State of the Hadoopiverse

Overviews of the current state of various projects within the Big Data space and the Hadoop ecosystem specifically. This is my pick of the most exciting new projects, particularly interesting JIRA issues and the general state of various releases of the Apache Hadoop subprojects we know and love.

Best Practices

These posts will primarily be centered around the discussions we’re having getting organizations up to speed on Hadoop. If you’re already running a petabyte scale cluster, chances are your “best” practices will look very different. If you’re not quite at that scale, then pull up a chair.

Tips and Tricks

MapReduce has it’s own set of quirks and these posts will highlight new (or old) idioms. Some will be cute but useless, while others will be standard workhorses that you may not have seen before.

Blatant Self Promotion

There will be occasional reminders of the awesome stuff we’re building. They’ll be labelled accordingly. Oh, and don’t be too surprised if an occasional rant slips past our censorship committee.
